Apple MacBook Pro M1 Chip Performance Review

For all Apple fans, Apple MacBook Pro M1 is the most exciting release of the year. The biggest plus of this outstanding laptop is that, unlike its other releases, they use Apple’s own integrated M1 chip. As a result of which it claims to have much better performance than other laptops that is almost double their output. Although Apple is making its own chips for their iPhones and iPads, this is the first time they came with their own M1 chi in the Mac series. As a result of which people have many expectations of them. To see whether they had fulfilled your expectations or not, let’s have a quick review of its performance.

Apple MacBook Pro M1 Review

We have to consider multiple factors as the design, price, features, performance, and battery life when reviewing a laptop. Thus, for Apple MacBook Pro M1:

Design:

The MacBook Pro M1 is one of the most exciting releases of 2020 from Apple due to its new M1 silicon brains. However, you won’t be able to know about it when you look at it for the first time. Why because all of its dimensions, 0.61 x 11.97 x 8.36 inches as well as its weight of 3 pounds is pretty similar to its previous model. In short, it has almost a similar design to its previous model and doesn’t come with many considerable changes in its design. Therefore, if you are looking for any radical changes in its design, you will end up getting disappointed.

Although it is a big opportunity for Apple to change its design along with moving to the M1 chip, they have missed it. Apple claims that their MacBook Pro 13 has a perfect design, and therefore, it doesn’t need any changes and improvements in its design. However, there is one thing we cannot deny that even without any changes, it still has a pretty attractive design. It returns with a TouchBar and a touchscreen that runs along the top of the keyboard. It has a Retina resolution of 2560 x 1600, thus remaining bright and vibrant. Besides, it also supports P3 wide color gamut; consequently, having an excellent color reproduction. It has two Thunderbolt 3 ports and an audio jack on the right.

Keyboard and Trackpad:

The only difference Apple has made in its design is the redesigning of its keyboard. Its new magic keyboard comes with two-part switches. There is a compressible rubber dome that provides springiness and a bounceback effect to the keycap. Its revised keyboard is definitely a game-changer. It will give you one of the most comfortable typing experiences you will ever have. The keyboard backlight comes with an ambient light sensor; therefore, it can only activate when you need it. It has built-in fingerprint readers, and Apple calls Touch ID sensors.

Performance:

When it comes to the performance of the MacBook Pro M1, it shows outstanding and spectacular performance. When introducing the M1 chip, Apple claims that its CPU is almost 2.8 times faster than other computers at building Xcode projects; they also state that these laptops will deliver two times faster performance than vector performance in Affinity photo. However, the good thing is that almost all of Apple’s claims turn true as its M1 chip shows a brilliant performance. It allows you to open multiple demanding apps simultaneously, and the exciting thing is, macOS Big Sur doesn’t miss a beat.

Besides, it can also allow you to continue using old apps without any big issues. Unlike the Microsoft version of Windows 10, which also runs on ARM-based laptops but gives access to limited apps only, there is no such issue with MacBook Pro M1. All older apps can work pretty well on an M1-toting MacBook Pro. Therefore, it has seriously upped the game. Sometimes MacBook Pro M1 can get hot at the back of the laptop, but it is not distracting to the point of stopping you from working.

Moreover, it shows some of the incredible results for its benchmark results. It has the ability to beat powerful Intel 11th gen chips, and that is 100 percent true. On its multicore test, it earns a whopping score of 7,768 points. Moreover, its Geekbench 5 results also show big improvement. Similarly, when MacBook Pro M1 is used for Apple’s video editing software, it shows some superb results and outstanding performance. On the whole MacBook, Pro M1 shows the best performance and excellent results.

Battery life:

Another mind-blowing area about MacBook Pro M1 that will blow your mind is its battery life. Those who have to spend a lot of time on their laptops need a laptop with excellent battery life. With your MacBook Pro M1, you don’t have to watch your battery percentage all the time as you work on it. As Apple claims that ‘MacBook Pro has the longest battery life’ it surely has as it shows a huge 17 hours of wireless web browsing and 20 hours of video playing. When tested, it continues for 13 hours and 22 minutes.

Price:

Almost everyone will love this aspect of Apple as they launched new versions of their products at the same time. They release new versions with a lot of upgrades but at the same price. The MacBook Pro M1 starting price is £1,299, which is the same price as the launching price of MacBook Pro 13-inch. So, you will get a better version of the MacBook Pro M1 at the same price without spending any cent more in simple words. For MacBook Pro 13-inch, its base model comes with an 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 256GB SSD, and 8GB of unified memory. If you want to have storage of 512GB, you need to pay £1,499, and for a 2TB SSD and 16GB of RAM, you need to pay £2,299.
