Dialogue issues have been reported by some viewers of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Even without Friday previews, today’s debut of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is a financial success. However, there have been reports of problems with the loudness, and several viewers have claimed that they missed significant portions of the discussion.

Many moviegoers have complained about the film’s audio when it first hit theatres. Those who have complained online usually have difficulty distinguishing speech from background noise. This appears to be notably true of the film’s prologue, however several viewers found it challenging to understand some characters throughout.

As one Reddit user put it, “the soundtrack was booming and the dialogue got lost.” Closed captioning would have helped.

Audience members have complained about the loudness being either low or too high at certain movie theatres. After the first several minutes, some audience members requested more sound from the theatre.

Producer and writer Phil Lord even designed stickers as a thank you to projectionists who show Spider-Verse at maximum volume. The movie will sound different in every theatre, Lord said in response to his initial tweet, and it may be too quiet and require the volume to be turned up in a packed audience.
